Do Qantas Frequent Flyers get upgrades on Emirates flights?

Just wondering, for any of those Qantas frequent flyers out there, when flying on Emirates metal (either EK or QF flight number), has anyone ever had any operational upgrades, at check-in, the lounge, the gate or otherwise? As a Qantas Platinum, operational upgrades when flying on Qantas metal come relatively frequently but just wondering what people's experiences are with Emirates. Though I realise Skywards frequent flyers would come ahead of Qantas frequent flyers.

Hello Trevor, your experience is different to mine.  Depends on what you mean by "relatively frequently".  I've been a QF Platinum for +10 years on the trot, and I've only ever recieved three free upgrades in all that time. One for Business to first from London to Singapore about 8 years ago.  One from economy to business from Perth to Sydney about 7 years ago. One for Business to First on Sydney to LAX about 3 years ago.  I have not recieved a single upgrade apart frmt hose three - without using my own FF points.  My experience is that QF sucks in this area. IMHO!

Not many airlines give free upgrades anymore ,it's about using points or auctions seem to be coming in ,,where an airline auctions available buisiness seats to the highest cash bidder.i beleave Air NZ does this where one registers on line and if seats are available sends an email for you to bid .makes it hard for FF trying to use points ,as I beleave it is hard to get an award seat.

I can recall 3 free upgrades in the past 10 years, of which 2 were as a platinum member and 1 as a silver member.  Otherwise, I have to upgrade with points.

As a Gold I had free upgrades from paid for exit row seats in economy to Premium Economy, once to San Francisco, once to JNB. As a Platinum I've had 2 free upgrades on domestic, CNS-SYD in '12 and SYD-MEL last year. I also had a free upgrade to Business from Premium Economy on a Q A380 flight from Syd-HKG in Aug '11.

A colleague at work, also Qantas Platinum has had several feree operational upgrades flying EK from what I recall.

A work colleague recent flying from the UK, was upgraded at DXB to ADL neither her or her husband has any FF status with QF or EK, theirs was done at the gate as they boarded.
