Why do japan airlines continue to use their inferior 777-200 on the Sydney Tokyo route? Are there ant plans to upgrade to the 777-300 er?

JAL plans to fly the 787 on this route. There are issues with it flying in some weather conditions and this has been postponed (perhaps cancelled altogether) until this is fixed.

Effective from October 26th the nice JAL 787-8 will be flying JL 771/2.

There is no pressure for JL as the only other airline and competitor on this sector operates a 747 with an aged product. Why waste resources when consumers have limited choices anyway?

The JL 77W has new cabin interiors and upgraded lie-180 degrees flat seats in J.

Understandable, but it is something about JAL old cabin inferior to new one and nothing to do to actual planes that basically the same except dimensions.

Yes agreed.

But unfortunately the general travelling public is unable to/does not want to discern between aircraft type and cabin products.

This lack of distinction is further enforced by the sloppy journalism within some quarters that confuses advances in aircraft type with cabin product updates.

Consequently, common vernacular has resulted aircraft type to be the proxy for cabin features.

It is illogical but unfortunately so much of the world is too.
