I have a Y class EY fare from SYD-GRU via AUH, and one of the legs is operated by VA - is that flight going to be in premium economy?

Reason I ask - the seat map on the Etihad site it showing the premium economy cabin for the VA operated flight, and I was able to select a premium economy seat (11D). Otherwise I'd have assumed it was a normal economy seat.

Would need some more info to determine why you might have been able to choose a premium economy seat. I think you are just lucky and the fligth might be overbooked already and EY is upgrading higher status FF (although it is odd as normally they will not be able to do this if not on their own metal, which is the case in your situation).

What is the fare basis your flights are booked in? Do you have a return ticket and could you choose premium eco on the return as well? Are you a frequent flyer with EY or VA?

I'm a VA frequent flyer (silver though).

My fare basis from SYD-AUH, AUH-GRU is Y class, and on the return is L class. I'm not getting Y+ on the VA codeshare on the return, but I am on the way there.

Yes, but does EY sell this? I don't think they do and smartyy purchased the ticket via EY afaik. Please correct me if otherwise!

EY don't have Y+, which is why I'm thinking I kind of hacked the system a bit by mistake haha.
