Hi all, new to ausbt but an avid reader for some time. Wife and I and (soon to be) infant son want to travel to LAX from SYD return in May 2015.
Am currently Gold with Virgin but likely to fall below that prior to the trip. Currently have approx 160k velocity points but likely to be around the 220k mark at the time of travel. So wanting to know best options for travelling in Business or Prem Economy for the return and whether you can do it on the codeshare partners like Delta.
The best way is to purchase a Flexi fare then upgrade on VA metal. First verify award availability by searching for redemptions. It's 18k one way pp from Y to PE, 45k pp from Y to J. I'm not so sure about the policy for infants and upgrades. But to be on the safe side, the most straightforward way would be to purchase the infant fare (assuming he will be in lap) in the upgraded cabin either through a travel agent or with VA direct.
