Anyone flown Virgin Australia as a platinum member and been treated badly?

Had a tech fault on and aircraft (which I'm cool with). Sat in the plane for two hours on the Tarmac. Told plane couldn't be fixed and off loaded moved to another gate for a replacement plane told departure time only to have everything cancelled. It's like the other plane had evaporated!

Then I see virgin staff going around talking to all the single people in the lounge to the move them to the next flight and leaving all the couples and families out of the loop. Apparently they do this to reduce the queues.

They were completely rude and uncaring specially when it was a family with small kids.

Clarify 'rude and uncaring', and I'm guessing this was to a platinum members family from your title?

Yeap

it was just lies at every stage..no one even spoke to me. The manager came out my wife was in tears she started to talk to him. He turned his back on her and spoke to someone else.

Hi,

are you referring to the canceled 11:30am flight out of PER yesterday?

I have to disagree with you. The staff did what ever they could for everybody. My impression was that people were really rude, talking to the VA hotline on the phone, while harrasing the ladies at the reception desk in the lounge at the same time.

And yes you are right, we had to disembarc and only 10 min later the flight was canceled. Did you realize that almost all of the outbound flights of PER for VA were delayed just then? I guess the ground staff (both technical and costumer staff) was busy as.

When I spoke to the ladies in the lounge, they did not commit to anything (how could they). They stayed calm and very professional. And I guess they can only take care of one passenger at a time.

I am curious, were you booked on the 4pm flight? Because I know for a fact that people were also booked on next days flight...

Jokerowl,

Were you single or part of a family/couple?

Hi TRB,

I was travelling alone indeed. And I guess, it is easier to shuffle single travelers around than groups. I totally understand the frustration of that family, but I am sure they were taken care of

I'm sure everyone will have different views on a situation depending on an outcome. I normally rate virgin 10/10 just this time they didn't do well enough in my view.

same topic, different views...nothing unusual there!

makes for great reading for the rest of us though :-)

Very bad service indeed.

Last Saturday I just landed into MEL from LAX, went upstairs to check in for my domestic flight and had to wait 35 minutes in the queue.  Out of 5 available Platinum/Business Check in counters, only 1 (yes 1) was open.  There were more Virgin staff floating around in the overcrowded terminal chatting to other economy fliers, with absolutely no intention of trying to check in their premium guests.  I even have photographic evidence of 1 check-in counter open out of the 5 which I have sent to custom service.

Appalled to say the least.

You had to queue up? How tragic!

At least you have your photographic evidence to cherish!

We all expect queues in airports, but you can't tell me you expect to wait over half an hour in what should take less than 5 minutes.

We were offered per to melb changing  to sydney. With a family.

Not even asked if we needed assistance with a 12 hour delay. If we caught that flight it was delayed too and we would of missed the connection to sydney.

Was just told by a virgin rep they do not guarentee passengers will get to their destination! Hilarious
