Does anyone know how long it typically takes to get regulatory approval for a re-instated route. I understand Qantas are to re-instate direct flights from Sydney to San Francisco. I am due to book soon using points but the direct flights don't yet appear. Not sure if I should just book a flight to LA to be safe.

It's probably a matter of when the flights are planned to commence. They would announce it without approval.

In this case, it is not a matter of approval for the flight itself. Australia and the US have open skies allowing unlimited flights. Australias IASC and US DOT will just approve the flights when they get to the paperwork without any issues.

The problem here is waiting for the ACCC and DOT to review and approve the changes and renewal to the AA/QF JV.

Thanks Himeno. Any idea how long that takes?
