Virgin Australia Velocity Platinum: chance of a soft landing down to Gold?

Been VA Plat for last 4 years but change of job means won't get SCs or minimum sectors to qualify for gold this year. What's the chance of a soft landing Plat to Gold?

I gifted a family member Companion Gold after I achieved 1300 SC's, they then pooled all the SC to me during the 12 months they were Gold and they soft landed to Silver.

Almost a certainty, I would think.

Going by my own experience and judging by other people's comments in other forums. It has happened to be twice now.

I softlanded from platinum to gold (2013), requalified from gold to platinum (2014) and then just last month soft landed from platinum to gold.
