Qantas - Qantas Frequent Flyer

I never completely understood why Qantas signed Michael Clarke as an Ambassador, given his lack of popularity around Australia. Perhaps it came with the territory of occupying the countryâs highest sporting office (or maybe even any office?). However, now that he has retired, who do we think make suitable replacements? That is assuming Qantas wonât keep Michael Clarke on (surely they have no good reason to?).
Presumably it will be a sportsman or sportswoman, given how deeply ingrained into the Australian psyche and culture sport is. And so I was thinking someone like Jason Day. Heâs just broken through for his first (of many presumably) Major, heâs popular, heâs come from humble beginnings, heâs stayed humble, heâs a good family man etc. Furthermore, in addition to having appeal within Australia, he has a global following, particularly in the US and Europe. Surely they could also use him to spruik the relatively new Qantas Golf Club?
The only drawback would be that much of blue-collar Australia views golf as an elitist sport, probably rightly so, but overall I would have thought such a move would make a positive return for Qantas. What are peopleâs thoughts?
