I havent checked out the schedules, but would going thru HKG and then onward with either CX or AY be an option, they're both OW airlines?

Unless I'm mistaken Frank, going OneWorld carriers that aren't code-share (or more specifically a QF branded flight) eliminates the SC earn - which I noted above is a non-negotiable...

You're mistaken. ;) Flights booked on Oneworld airlines (plus Fiji Airways) earn status credits on points-earning fares, in addition to flights booked on a QF flight number with both Qantas and its codeshare partners.

Good point Chris - For some reason I was thinking that Qantas had cut SC earn on OneWorld partners - but I seem to recall reading an article on AusBT in the past 9-12m which outlined changes to points and SC earn when flying on OneWorld - non QF metal flights...I spent a few mins looking but couldn't find what I thought was published.

QF/QR via SYD and DOH seems to have reasonable connections..
