If you book an international Qantas classic reward seat and need to cancel are the taxes redunded? I understand the points are -5k, but I'm just wondering about the taxes. On another note, does anyone have any tips about finding seats to the US around chritmas? Extremely difficult I know.
FYI, from December 15 2016 it'll cost 6,000 points per passenger to cancel an award booking (up from 5k) at present. Changes will also increase from 3.5k to 5k per passenger.

Yes, I recently had to cancel a J reward booking for next February, it did cost 5000 points per ticket and all the fees were refunded.

Correct - had it confirmed by a Premium Agent just this morning. -5k points but refund of all fees/taxes.
