I know a lot of people have had issues with some of the rigidity within the QANTAS system, however, I just received a real bonus that make me appreciate the brand and further establish loyalty. Whilst having lived overseas for the last number of years I was entrenched in Gold but nowhere near lifetime Gold status. I had to return last year for personal reasons and travelled very little in the course this year. QANTAS whilst acknowledging that I did not meet Gold extended the Status for the next year. Not something I was expecting but certainly appreciated. Just shows that QANTAS can and does look for and encourage loyalty.
I believe if you have a three year average of a particular status level they comp you a year if you dont qualify for whatever reason. you are then comped silver the following year if you dont requalify before returning to bronze the next.
After 15 years of Bronze, living in the UK for 7 of those, I had a change in circumstances and made it to Silver. By the end of the year I was was 50 odd short of Gold. I reached out to QF in a joking way on twitter and they granted me Gold. It's made a huge difference to my travel back and forth from Australia and I am so grateful every time I use the lounge. They've got my loyalty!
Does anyone have any experience of retaining their Gold status when they well short of the required 600 status credits ... say only 250 points?
