Does anyone know whether it is against the rules to buy vouchers for yourself? Might as well get more points if you know you are going to do some flight spending in the new future...

No rule against it, and I am sure I am not alone in doing it all the time :)

Definitely no reason you can't buy them for yourself Ã¢â¬â many frequent flyers do just that every December when this offer pops up, as a way to maximise their points balance and also wipe out the booking fee for a bunch of trips for the year to come. I've bought a few vouchers for that very purpose :)
