Hi, I have I believe moved up to Platinum, question is does Virgin/ Velocity notify me ?

Yes, of course they do. You'll get a pack with new card etc. Will also be online with your velocity account, but there is a lag of about a week from memory.

You can review your status on the velocity website, which is the fastest way to communicate your upgrade.
However in my experience there isn't anything personal about the process (i.e. phone call, email etc.) instead you will receive your platinum pack in the mail.

Should already be on your account online,mine was immediately changed. Its just the current situation if being slow to add points and SC's which is frustrating. Enjoy the perks,diamond with Hilton is pretty sweet.

I have always had mine carry on with Hhonors,had diamond for 2 years now and its just last week ticked over into a 3rd year.

Thanks Everyone ,checked again today in my profile , yep updated to Platinum and received an Email confirmation also, so added the Hilton perk as well as I have platinum with IHG who are very good

I agree that Hilton Diamond is good, but it is only for one year and then you have to accrue status with Hilton to maintain diamond, otherwise you will end up losing it (even if you requalify for platinum with VA).
How is that abnormal? What were you expecting, Diamond for every year you have platinum? Hardly sustainable.
