I'm most interested in the last sentence - if you're already a Velocity Gold or Platinum member, then you will maintain your status.
Does this mean if I'm Gold with a review date of July 2018 and I get this card, I 'maintain' for another year it extends to July 2019 once I reach the review date?

all of the discussions regarding the Pilot Gold program indicate that when you take it up, your status is reset. So SC are wiped and the Gold review date changed to 3 months from commencement. Then you have 3 months to earn 80 points to retain Gold.
