What are my chances of getting my missing luggage? I've never lost any luggage before, but maybe some ausbt readers have more experience than me.
Basically I flew DFW - SYD via LAX, on Saturday and arrived yesterday. I had 3 pieces and 1 never made it to Sydney. At the airport yesterday they told me it missed the first flight (DFW - LAX), but it is sitting in LAX now, and would arrive today. Today they said it didn't arrive in Sydney but are chasing it up with AA. They called me shortly after to ask me questions about what the suitcase looks like and what is inside (to help them ID it).
This sounds a bit like they have no idea where it is. What do you think my chances of ever seeing this suitcase again?

Those questions are standard - we got asked the same when our luggage stayed behind while we flew from LHR to ORD. It did arrive the next day although my partners one got to the hotel before mine did. I now always travel with some basic clothing in my handluggage after that!If we're transferring now I always ask at the departure gate (for the final flight) for them to check that our luggage is on the plane.

Just wondering if you ever .got it.back??
hey mate, thanks for asking. unfortunately no i never got it back. qantas paid me only ~1700 of compensation as that was their limit. Fortunately my work insurance policy paid the rest. Upon calling qantas to complain they offered me 20,000 points.
