You may find that if you don’t renew you’ll in time receive an offer to rejoin with the joining fee waived or a buy one year and get the second year for free. A few years ago I received that offer after not bothering to renew (after bouncing back down fromGold and having to pay for access).

My Qantas club renewal was due in July. I missed the email. Due to being gold a couple years ago, access did not expire until mid September. Have been a QC member for 22 years. Told I have to rejoin, and pay rejoin fee. Could not rejoin and backdate. Anyone share, or have beaten this approach to ‘Loyalty’.

It is reasonable for there to be a grace period to backdate to mid-September without paying joining fee.

Find the address for Mr Joyce and send him a letter. I suspect it will fix this problem.

Sure because the boss has time to attend to matters like this where someone through their own fault had membership dropped???

A QF Club member since 1992....and have just had the same thing happen to me....missed the email ( yes, my fault ) but, we really want your membership renewal money, PLUS a $399 re-joining fee....very apologetic gent on the Club phone line, who did attempt to get a 'higher up' to make an exception....but, to no avail....on principle I won't pay it....I guess I'll just wait until I hit Gold or Platinum again....poor form Qantas !

Yep!  Same thing happened today but I definitely didn't receive the email. Showed up to QC Melbourne and told it expired on August 31st despite flying 3 times after this date in qantas club with tickets saying "Qantas Club"  They put me on to customer service and they said there is nothing they can do.  They want me to pay the joining fee again which is >$350.   She said she and even her supervisor have no flexibility to waive the joining fee.  (Ive been joined for 4 years!!!  All my info is on the system! Its still there! I asked when they sent me a renewal email.  She said 3rd August.  I checked my phone and I have a hundred emails from them promoting wine, health insurance, hotels, cash cards etc etc but NO email on the 3rd August asking to renew. She also said that other people have said the same thing lately and perhaps I should check my spam filter...ha ha.  Been a member for 3 or 4 years, paying my own fares, travel every 14 day, always missing out on Gold by 40pts and repaying the QC membership in full.  How can they justify over $350 as a joining fee?  Scam!!  Id like to see how they justify that to the ACC.  Im sure this must have been a very direct decision from Qantas to piss off the minnows and / or make some more coin.    Really disappointed.  Easy for people to say " well you should have known...blah blah", but this is just wrong. $350 OMG!
