Hi,

Longer time lurker but first time poster so please be gentle!

I've just re-qualified for Gold and have a review date in Feb 2018. Between now and then I have a number of flights booked which will earn further SC's and points ( the main one being a return trip to Thailand in business with Singapore Airlines). There won't be enough to reach Platinum and I've confirmed with Velocity that the further SC's won't count towards the next qualification period. Hence, I'm looking for guidance on what to do. At the moment I'm thinking of having the Thailand booking credit my KrisFlyer account (which is where most of my Velocity points end up getting transferred to anyway) but is there anything else I should consider? At a push I might be able to make it to Platinum but I didn't think the benefits were worth it. Would the forthcoming SC's (about 450 in Velocity terms) be enough to qualify for some sort of status elsewhere?

Any guidance gratefully received

why not putting them through Singapore's KrisFlyer? You could also get the advantages of an alliance and more consistent benefits than VA.

Getting Platinum with Velocity is worth it if you can get there, especially if you fly a lot domestically. The 4 x business class upgrades and economy x seating are nice treats. Assuming you're just at 500 credits, your minimum earn for a return trip to Thailand in Business (assuming from the east coast) is going to get you 240 credits. So you're 260 short of platinum. Have you looked at family pooling and taking a quick trip?
But, if you definitely can't get to platinum, then I'd move them to KrisFlyer for sure.

Thanks for the replies. Currently standing at 526. The Thailand trip is via Singapore so should get me 360, but then I have SC's starting to expire. Need to find another 120 or so for Plat I reckon.

Also, just to consider, coles and flybuys are offering double status credits this month, in case this is helpful. Perhaps a short domestic run could also help?

I'm very similar most years hit gold no worries but never come close too platinum (unless I booked flexible tickets all the time, which I won't) so I family pool to my partner after the 400sc for retaining gold allowing her to get silver.

Most of the perks are useless because she rarely travels without me so normally is my guest to lounges etc. However the 50% points bonus on flights is handy even if minimal due to her only taking a few flights a year.

When this membership year is over though I'll be doing it in the reverse direction and family pool my way to get closer to possibly hitting platinum even if just for the first year when 1000sc are needed then I can easily retain it with 800sc
