Hi all. I will be arriving into BNE at 17:35 on EY484, business class, and hope to fly to CBR, business class, on QF1553 at 19:15. It's been a while since I have flown domestically with Qantas but if they have a domestic transfer lounge at BNE International and are still observing a 30 minute pre-flight cut off for domestic flights, can this be realistically be done? Does Etihad/BNE airport support 'Express Path' for arrivals? All advice appreciated.

Oh, I forgot to ask whether the Qantas domestic transfer lounge facility includes transport to the BNE domestic terminal or do you have to do that yourself via the air train or a bus, etc?

Firstly, yes Qantas is still using a 30 minute cut off for domestic flights.

At The international terminal (on the right after coming out the door), there are Qantas desks which can do baggage drop and check in but these are not always manned especially in the afternoon/evening.

You'll definitely need the 30 minutes if checking in at the international terminal as you'll need to catch the free bus which requires no ticket/pass. The bus is run by Brisbane Airport and comes every 10-15 minutes (a timetable is online at the airport website). You can also catch the train but I believe only Virgin Australia still give out train tickets otherwise it's around $5 for the 2-minute journey with a service every 15-30 minutes.

Finally yes Etihad give out Express Passes but you'll likely have nowhere you can use it. Provided you've got a passport eligible for smart gate then use the smart gates instead as it'll be quicker. Normally during the peak morning (and sometimes they'll leave it like this for the rest of the day) arrivals, they have a separate express lane setup for leaving the baggage hall (look on the left).

Otherwise (normally after midday), it seems to switch to just a green (nothing to declare) and red (declare) exits. On my last arrival (4 days ago) at 8pm they just had one lane for everyone but there was no queue so again no problem.

As you're on the last BNE-CBR flight it'll be a problem if you miss. Keep an eye on the entertainment screen flight map as this will give an ETA and the planes got WiFi (paid - 180mb for US$20) you should be able to login to the Qantas website and change the flight to the next flight of the morning if need be (provided you've haven't booked a complely non-refoundable non-changable ticket).

Why don't you get a codeshare flight on VA1226 at 7:15?

If you then get your bags checked through, it saves the hassles of rechecking in again.

@henrus - thank you very much.

@Madhatter49 - My flight to Australia will be on a separate ticket as one is work and one is private. Would I still be able to check my bags right through if that is the case?
