Hi team, probably a simple answer with oneworld priveledges. But as a WP FF with Qantas I presume I do not need to purchase a ticket with AA that includes baggage and will have baggage allowance in line with status?

You are right as your status will have this included. I am a QF PFF and bought discount economy tickets on AA recently in the US and didn't need pay for anything extra. In fact on a flight from DFW to PHL, I was even given something to eat without any charge due to my status.

Thanks Sanj for your response.

I was worried about this line at the bottom of the seating options

  • 1 bag that fits under the seat (No access to overhead bin)
  • Seats assigned at check-in*
  • Not eligible for upgrades*
  • No flight changes or refunds*
  • Board in last group

*Rules apply to all passengers including AAdvantage elites

No worries Neil. You should in fact get access to good seating at the front of the plane based on your status. I was able to get what they call premium economy on most airlines. You should also be able to board early again based on your status. Safe travels.

Just to pick your brain one more time I presume that this statement only applies to AAadvantage members and not oneworlds of equivalent status?

Get access if you’re departing on or connecting to any flight marketed and operated by American or a oneworld® airline (regardless of cabin). AAdvantage®Executive Platinum, Platinum Pro and Platinum customers traveling solely on North American itineraries do not qualify for Flagship Lounge access.**

Guest access

1 guest (children over 2 count as a guest).

**North America is defined as the United States (including Hawaii and Alaska), Canada, Mexico (except MEX), Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Caribbean

I think so Neil. Again based on my recent experience, I travelled from DFW and PHL. My mum was travelling with me and we had no issues with getting into the lounge. They did charge my mum for baggage from DFW to TPA as she was not travelling on the same domestic flight as me.

I (as QF WP) and my family flew on deep discount AA tickets few months ago with a few domestic stops in the US. I was able to select seat, get free checked bags, use the lounge, etc. As an OWE Emerald, you and all of your travel companions can get economy plus if seating is still available.

If you buy a ticket on the internet don't pay for the good seats. Once booked add FF then come back via manage booking and select the good seats for free
