I redeemed most of my KF miles though I have approx 110,000 remaining. Next year, my wife and I will be flying MEL - MAD in J class. I'm not sure what is the best way to maximise the use of points. Should I ; redeem 2 x 1 way tickets to Singapore and then make a new booking for Madrid? There isn't alot of value in mixing miles & cash hence my question.
Cash fares appear cheaper for MEL-MAD-SIN than those starting in Singapore so you might be better of using your points for SIN-MEL. Its your decision if the small discount is worth the trouble.
Maybe you can use the points for a side trip out of MAD instead?

You're right. I might just purchase the fare and accumulate the points that come with it then utilise all of them at a later date.
