Flew SYD-AUH-LHR this week. SYD-AUH only about 20% "full" in business. Poor slow service from disinterested crew. Amenities kit very lame, not even a bag you could use to store other currencies and no PJs. AUH-LHR about 70% full which is probably why the paper towels ran out early in the flight. Wrong food arrived, but wasn't worth eating anyway. Not looking forward to the return trip. Will be going back to SQ next time

I have traveled the SYD-LHR trip three or four times a year for the last ten years or so in first. Last year I switched to SQ for the first time because I wanted to try out their new A380 first class offering which was excellent.

However, just about to book next flight LHR return trip and will probably go back to EY. The price difference is enough to sway me towards the EY apartment offering. It works for me. I know there are issues but the recent cost cutting is in areas that don't bother me. I like the hard product. I love the onboard chef and flexibility it brings to dining. Yes, AD airport is average to say the least! But the overall offering is still good in my opinion. I would however pay a little more for the SQ service and it is a far better transit - mind you the Private Room is very dated. But I won't pay that much more and currently I get a far better deal on EY first.

One thing I will say about Etihad though. The general feel factor of any leg depends so much on the crew. I have consistently experienced better crew on the AUH-LHR-AUH legs when compared to the SYD-AUH-SYD legs. Curious to hear if anyone else has the same view.

In 2019, they are okay. Compared to Emirates, they are not quite equal. I flew economy.
