Does anyone know the workaround of trying to pay taxes using for an AA Miles redemption booking for a QF flight? Each time I select country of card issued (Australia) it kicks me out telling me to book via the US site, which I've already tried to do as well (?!)

Never had issues with this, but call to book if you're having trouble. Ask for them to waive the fee since you couldn't do it online.

Yeah, try calling them, maybe they can find a way to bill an AU credit card (try both AAdvantage customer service in AU and US).

It's always been a problem for me.
I have my HSBC credit card linked up with BorderLinx, which enables a US billing address on the card.
That's the only way I've been able to pay for AAdvantage award bookings.

Have had a lot of experience here - my ‘hack’ is to place the booking on hold and then add payment

I honestly can’t be bothered calling and then asking for a fee waiver, telling them it didn’t work etc
