If I fly a Star Alliance eg. Air New Zealand, can I receive Singapore Airlines Status Credits and Points. Then transfer those status credits and points to Virgin Australia?

Hi UpUpAndAway, no you can't transfer your points and status credits/miles like that.

Air New Zealand to Singapore Airlines is fine, but there's no way to get them to Virgin Australia.

Although you can't transfer any status credits and the like, you can transfer your KrisFlyer miles to Velocity, of course, including KrisFlyer miles you earned flying Star Alliance airlines.

For example, when flying Air New Zealand, you could credit those flights to KrisFlyer, which would give you elite miles and KrisFlyer miles. While your elite miles remain in KrisFlyer (being a measure towards status, not miles you can 'spend'), those spendable KrisFlyer miles can be converted to Velocity at a 1.55:1 rate, once you have at least 5,000 KrisFlyer miles in your account.

(5,000 KrisFlyer miles = 3,225 Velocity points.)
