In the last week, I booked a return flight Brisbane to Melbourne and paid using BPay. Th every next morning, a email arrives from Qantas inviting me to book a flight to Melbourne within the next 7 days for travel between 1 November and 29 February to receive a 50% more status credits. I am a Platinum FF. Is this as good as it is likely to get with status credit offerings?
This offer is hardly going to entice me to book another flight to Melbourne particularly in such a short time frame.
I think you may have beaten their algorithms to the offer email. I've found a few times if my travel is in a lull then I start searching on specific flight options then within 2-3 days an offer will turn up.
Corp's like Woolworths, AMEX, and Qantas are getting very good at hyper-targeted incentive offers - sometimes though (1) the execution can be slow, and (2) they still throw up some weird combinations (I'm looking at you AMEX...)
Unfortunately, it seems like Qantas has stopped many forms of bonus status credits. In a way, it may alleviate any (perceived or otherwise) devaluation of the FF status, making lounges perhaps, just perhaps, less crowded. However, the introduction of pay-per-use lounge scheme seems to offset any additional lounge space, quite clever I guess from business point of view.
I have a targeted double status credits offer sitting in my in my inbox which expires today. Unfortunately I won't be able to make use of it this time.

That's nice, at least you get a targeted offer. I had not been sent any targeted offers, not even when I had been actively searching for potential flights for weeks! haha. I bought the tickets anyway regardless, prices were just skyrocketing.
Hi Guest, join in the discussion on
50% more Status Credits. Is this as good as it gets?

Is this the new norm now from Qantas?
