In March this year I flew Business SYD/BNE return for a total points payment of44,800.
I thought, after reading the VA points article today, and still having 450K+points I may go again.
As a Gold member ( and a Platinum member previously) I have been a loyal VA FF since 2009 I nwas shocked to see.....WOW For a trip in June 175,000 points
When you're searching for flights, after you select "Points" rather than "Currency", you need to look for the flights with "Velocity Reward Seats" availability.
A one way flight at the "Business Reward" rate is 15,500 points plus fees/taxes of $39.30, or you could select 22,200 points with fees/taxes included. This is obviously what you selected when you flew in March. There is plenty of Velocity Reward Seat availability for flights in June.
It seems you have selected "Business Saver" or "Business" instead of "Business Reward". That's a common error, but easily corrected: simply search for "Velocity Reward Seats" and then "Business Reward".
