Frankfurt Hahn Airport (located approx 120 klms north of Frankfurt) has declared bankruptcy and entered formal administration.
The leisure and cargo airport was primarily patronised by passenger services provided by LCC operator Ryanair. The airport's primary owner is Hainan Airlines who hold an 87.5% share.
This is a sad day for both Hahn Airport and equally for Hainan Airlines who are still embroiled in a substantial financial bankruptcy of it own.
