Hawaiian Airlines boosts Brisbane-Honolulu flights

Hawaiian Airlines will add an extra flight to its Brisbane-Honolulu service next year, taking the route to four flights per week.

The move comes just one year after the airline began flying into Brisbane, and it's not stopping there.

"The schedule expansion is part of our ongoing plans to grow our Oceania market" said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, "allowing more Aussie travellers to visit the Hawaiian Islands via Honolulu and connect to any of our 11 US destination gateways."

As a partner to Virgin Australia’s Velocity Frequent Flyer program, travellers will continue to earn points and status credits on eligible Hawaiian Airlines fares to Honolulu and beyond.

The extra flight will debut on March 31 2014, which will see Brisbane departures on every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday; flights from Honolulu will leave on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.

However, from April 14 2014, Hawaiian Airlines will rejig the schedule to see Brisbane departures on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The return legs from Honolulu will shift accordingly to Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

The flight timings will remain unchanged: HA444 leaves Brisbane at 6:35pm and arrives into Honolulu at 7:45am on the same calendar day, while HA443 is wheels-up from Honolulu at 9:50am to reach Brisbane at 4pm.

The airline will continue to operate a Boeing 767-300ER on the route, providing 18 business class seats and 246 in economy.

Has me amazed they would fly to Brisbane which has a not so unsimilar climite to Hawaii and with the Gold Coast next door. And here we are in bloody cold Melbourne suffering in a 12deg December days. Theres a market to tap into. Im off to Hawaii again in May/June for the 6th time and have to fly crappy Jetstar from Melbourne.

Just be thankful there is even an option of a direct flight from Melbourne because up until recently when Jetstar restarted MEL-HNL direct you have have had to fly via SYD or AKL. No doubt you'll get on board and make life difficult for everyone because you've chosen to fly an airline you don't want to fly due to convenience

oh god lmao

I know right? If you don't want to fly Jetstar, harden up and transit via SYD or BNE. If you flew via SYD, you'd have a daily HNL flight by HA that leaves at night, allowing you to fly up around lunchtime and have a comfortable connection in Sydney.

even better - take the daytime flight on Air NZ outbound and a daytime flight back on JQ or HA inbound

Have just flown four legs on HA (SYD-HNL-SFO-HNL-BNE). Every flight was full to the brim. The economy seats were spacious, and although the older recliner types, the first class cabin (they upgraded us due to heavy loads) was very comfortable (soft and cushy). There were two meal services on each leg (felt like we didnt stop eating), and the crew were bringing me a scotch and coke the second I finished the previous one, without having to ask. Leaves the competition for dead, and I dare say is a better choice for flying to the mainland usa (HNL airport is much more pleasant than LAX/DFW).

Good luck to them - they're trying really hard to impress and it seems to be paying off.
