Jet Airways, Alitalia codeshare on flights to Italy, India

Indian airline Jet Airways has teamed up with Italian carrier Alitalia, inking a codeshare partnership on flights to Italy and India.

The arrangements see Jet Airways placing its 9W flight code on Alitalia-operated flights between Abu Dhabi and Rome, and then onwards to Bologna, Florence, Naples, Turin, Venice and Verona in Italy.

Similarly, Alitalia will codeshare on Jet Airways flights between Abu Dhabi and Delhi, Mumbai and Kochi.

Extending beyond Mumbai and Delhi, Alitalia will also place its AZ code on Jet Airways flights to Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Udaipur.

By booking a codeshare flight, members of Jet Privilege and Alitalia’s MilleMiglia programs can earn status miles regardless of the airline that is taking to the skies.

The airlines now form a ‘love triangle’ with Etihad, which recently expanded its own Indian codeshares with Jet Airways, and has committed to buy 49% of Alitalia.

The Middle Eastern airline also has frequent flyer arrangements with both Alitalia and Jet Airways, although these new codeshare services won’t accrue any miles in the Etihad Guest program.

The Alitalia/Jet Airways codeshare flights are now on sale.
