New Langham Place hotel opens in Xiamen, China

Langham Place is now welcoming guests in the Chinese coastal city of Xiamen as the Langham Hospitality Group opens its ninth property in mainland China.

And it's a welcome addition to Langham's luxury travel map, located in the heart of the city centre on Xianyue Road – a mere 15-20 minute drive from Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, the Conference and Exhibition Centre, Software Park and the city's main railway station.

The 327 spacious rooms and suites include the chain's signature Dream Beds, a personalised pillow menu and what Langham calls a ‘Dream'-themed evening turn-down service. (We're waiting to hear back from them on exactly what that means.)

The top two floors of the hotel are given over to the Club L rooms and executive lounge where Club L guests can enjoy free breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails and boardroom access.

Level 26 houses the Star Room which the hotel claims to be the highest function room in Xiamen, with floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing a panoramic view of the city.

Downstairs are nine meeting rooms available for hire and a pillar-free grand ballroom with a 655 guest capacity.

The hotel caters for a vast range of dining preferences with show kitchens, buffets, à la carte dining and authentic Cantonese cuisine available across the property’s three restaurants, while nine private dining rooms can be reserved in the hotel’s signature Ming Court restaurant.

For a little relaxation, the T2 restaurant features a live-cooking teppanyaki station offering tapas, whisky and sake, while L Bar boasts a live DJ, cocktails and fine wines drawn from a two-storey wine cellar.

If you’ve a little more time on your hands, there's a fitness centre and the Chuan Spa featuring nine treatment rooms.

To cap it off, the indoor swimming pool features an underwater sound system.

The opening of the Langham Place at Xiamen follows last year's debut for the Langham Place Guangzhou, which offers 500 rooms atop the Nanfung International Conference and Exhibition Centre.
