Marriott plans new The Ritz-Carlton, Auckland hotel for 2019

The Ritz-Carlton will plant its flag in New Zealand come 2019 with the opening of The Ritz-Carlton, Auckland hotel.

Located in Auckland’s CBD and nearby the Sky City entertainment precinct, the property will offer 360-degree views of the city’s twin harbours, with the nearby Waiheke Island vineyards a short helicopter ride away.

Greeting guests and passers-by on the ground will be a street-level café, while inside the hotel, two fine dining restaurants plan to showcase fresh New Zealand produce on their menus.

Further upstairs, the property’s 300 guestrooms and suites, including the chain’s signature Ritz-Carlton and Presidential Suites, which both offer guests private terraces on which they can enjoy both cocktails and the view.

“We have long desired to bring The Ritz-Carlton to New Zealand and we’ve patiently waited for the right partner and opportunity that will create a showcase worthy of this world-class city,” said Hervé Humler, President and COO of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company.

Business travellers will also be able to attend conferences and other events in the hotel’s two large ballrooms.
