New Perth terminal for Skywest, Alliance, charters opens in March

Perth Airport's brand new Terminal 2 is on track to open on 2 March, making a big improvement to the facilities on offer for regional airlines including Skywest, Alliance and charter operators.

Fly-in, Fly out flights — so-called FIFO services, booming thanks to the WA resources sector — will also make the new terminal their home.

It's all part of Perth Airport's massive $700 million makeover. Check out our guide to what's changing at Perth Airport, and when — only on AusBT!

Inside, you'll find fourteen covered gates, sixteen check-in counters, space for self-service kiosks and bag drops, plus a much-improved departures lounge.

On arrival, there are three baggage reclaim belts to avoid the crush when multiple flights get in at the same time.

The new Terminal 2 sits right next to the international terminal (now numbered 1), which will also prove handy for connections overseas.

"We look forward to our customers enjoying the convenience of the more spacious and modern facilities offered within the new terminal, with the benefits of a reduced wait through screening and free wifi throughout the terminal," said Jason Bitter, CEO of Skywest — soon to be part of Virgin Australia — which will be the first airline to use the terminal.
