Mayfair is a prestigious address where upscale department stores rub shoulders with sprawling Georgian mansions. Which makes news that Marriott is bringing the iconic St. Regis brand back to the UK – right in the heart of Mayfair – all the more exciting.

A short stroll from the bespoke tailors of Savile Row, on the corner of Bond and Conduit Streets, The St. Regis London will blend the pageantry of classic British service and style with a more contemporary edge.

(And by all accounts, it will be the perfect spot to relax and indulge before passing go and collecting $200.)

Primed to welcome its guests in 2023, following an AUD$168 million dollar redevelopment of the former Westbury Mayfair Hotel, the five-star property will feature 196 rooms and suites, together with a signature restaurant, speakeasy jazz bar, fitness centre and spa.

Peter Newman-Earp of Morrison Design, who proved to be a deft hand at transforming historic buildings with the stunning Hilton Curio Collection 100 Queen’s Gate Hotel in 2019, will be responsible for the design, with interiors by Richmond International.

The extensive redesign will see the addition of an eighth floor, as well as an extension to the rear of the hotel to create additional public areas, and renovations to the façade of the building and drop-off area outside of the main entrance.

George Fleck, Vice President and Global Brand Leader for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, described the 2023 opening as “a pivotal moment for St. Regis Hotels & Resorts as we bring this cherished brand to the United Kingdom.”

“St. Regis offers an exquisite experience inspired by the exceptional private retreats of its founding family, the Astors, whose commitment to excellence, sophisticated style, and passion for innovation continue to define the guest experience today.”

In a nod to the building’s heritage, the hotel will retain the iconic Polo Bar, originally designed for the Phipps family of America, who were avid polo players and creators of the Westbury Hotel in New York and London.

The St. Regis London is the latest in a series of luxury hotels all making a grand debut in the city, with Raffles London at The OWO – the iconic Old War Office building at Whitehall – later this year, and The Peninsula London overlooking Hyde Park in 2023.
