Qantas opens its Perth Transit Lounge for all international flights
Whether you’re jetting all the way to to London or nipping up to Singapore, this’ll start your trip right.

Executive Traveller exclusive
Qantas is rolling out the welcome mat at its Perth International Transit Lounge for lounge-worthy travellers on all international flights, not just the Boeing 787-9 service to and from London.
That's good news for passengers on the daily Perth-Singapore flight, who’ve previously been directed to the domestic Qantas Business Lounge and Qantas Club at Terminal 4 – not that there’s anything wrong with a slice or two (or three) of the business class lounge’s popular pizza.
But the newer Perth International Transit Lounge boasts an outdoor BBQ dining area and bar, along with 15 spacious and well-appointed shower suites…
… and it’s much more convenient for overseas flights the domestic business lounge, being in the ‘international wing’ of Terminal 3, behind security and directly across from the gates used for international flights.
Qantas developed the lounge exclusively for its Perth-London flights, building in a number of “bespoke health and wellness options to support your wellbeing pre- and post- ultra long haul travel.”
And yes, that did include a yoga studio where travellers setting off for London could take a guided 15-minute class of ‘calming and grounding’ with breathing exercises, while those stepping off the 16+ hour trek from London welcomed sessions to stretch and loosening their muscles.
Now for the not-so-good news: Executive Traveller understands this open access arrangement is only on a short-term basis, and is geared to capacity in the 141-seat lounge.
Once the Perth International Transit Lounge approaches its limits, the airline expects to swing all Singapore-bound flyers back to the domestic business class lounge.
In addition to the current Perth-London and Perth-Singapore flights, the International Transit Lounge will also host travellers to and from Rome when the Sydney-Perth-Rome route kicks off on June 22, and potentially the long-awaited and still-under-discussion Qantas service between Perth and Johannesburg.
As previous reported, Qantas has permanently closed its lounge at Perth’s designated T1 international terminal, as the airline intends to run all overseas flights from its T3 international wing, which is part of the domestic T3/T4 ‘Qantas precinct’.

I cannot laude this lounge enough. An hour after a Melbourne flight of 3+ hours it is great to just walk around talk to the very pleasant staff, have a standing up-drink and mentally prepare for what is coming during the next 16 hours. But.....upon return from LHR, a shower, a yoga session for the bride, the smell of an Aussie BBQ and the aroma of 'home' means that you are back home with all the sentiments that they invoke.......until next time. It appears only fair to share this lounge with locals( regardless how they feel about others from the other side of the Nullarbor?!)

We used it 2 weeks ago before QF71 to SIN, so much better getting done with the immigration stuff then off to the lounge and a 2 minute walk to the gate.

It's great news.If I did have lounge membership it would influence who AND how I would choose to fly to London with.Ex Adelaide it's a further incentive not to fly through Singapore on Singapore Airlines given how awful the connections are(8 to 9 hours between the flights over)and coming home unless you get one of those days when there is the day time flight connecting onwards coming off the oppositions Morning Service the wait time varies between 5 and 9 hours with the later connections.

LHR Qantas lounge in T3 opens at 7:00am. I was there last week on QF009 (landed at around 05:15) and had to wait until 6:00am for security to open to get through the transit area into the main T3 terminal. Headed for the Cathay Pacific lounge which is right next to the Qantas lounge and has nice shower suites.

Agreed - a great lounge. However Qantas only fly 3 flights a week to Singapore from Perth - not daily as reported. Singapore airlines manage 2 or 3 three flights daily. It's very hard to support Qantas on this popular route when they don't provide a daily service. We have been through this before I hope they reinstate a daily service as soon as possible.

I’ve used this lounge a few times and it’s really nice, I prefer it to the other T3 Qantas business lounge actually. As others have said, the staff are really friendly, helpful and the drink service and food options are really good.
