Skytrans starts daily flights between Sydney and Toowoomba

Queensland airline Skytrans starts flying between Toowoomba and Sydney today, with weekday departures providing a new opportunity for business travellers to fly to and from the area.

Most interstate business travellers would currently aim to fly into Brisbane Airport and drive the 140km west to Toowoomba.

Flights run Monday through Friday, with a double return on Wednesday allowing Toowoomba passengers a relatively short day of meetings in Sydney.

Monday, Wednesday and Thursday see 0715 departture morning flights from Toowoomba to Sydney, arriving at 0930. The return leaves Sydney at 1015 and arrives in Toowoomba at 1230.

Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday flights are afternoon departures, leaving Toowoomba at 1345 and arriving in Sydney at 1600, before a 1645 return from Sydney gets you into Toowoomba at 1900.

For the full schedule, refer to the last page of Skytrans' timetable. Tickets are sold via Skytrans' website.

Skytrans uses 36-seat Bombardier Dash-8 turboprop aircraft on the 713km, 75-minute route. Those planes are similar to the smaller QantasLink propeller-driven aircraft familiar to many business travellers.

Aviation journalist and travel columnist John took his first long-haul flight when he was eight weeks old and hasn't looked back since. Well, except when facing rearwards in business class.

glad to be on board
