I hope QR uses A350-1000s, as they are far more modern and quiet than the 777s. As for competitors, maybe (and hopefully) Etihad will finally bring back A380 to Sydney. Currently Etihad is intentionally limiting capacity, using their rickety old 777s, and charging sky high air fares to Australia ...

Yeah it'll be interesting to see how Etihad behaves in the Aussie market now they have an interline agreement with Rex. Compared to before COVID, Etihad is significantly underserving the Aussie market. Pre-pandemic they had 2x daily A380 flights to SYD, daily A380 to MEL, and daily flights to BNE...
