A distinction between the "bump" to Gold and Platinum companion status on QF - the bump to Gold at 2,400 SC is an option you can choose from (the others being 50k points or 3 complimentary valets) whereas the bump to Platinum at P1 status is a complimentary benefit of P1 status.
