    Thank you jchen and TheRealBabushka!  Those were helpful responses :)I had tried calling CX in Australia to link the bookings, but the agent told me I would need to do it at check-in and ask for baggage to be checked through.  I hadn't thought of calling CX in Hong Kong - will try that!...
