Brisbane gets second Rydges hotel: the Rydges Fortitude Valley

Brisbane will gain a second Rydges hotel next month with the opening of the Rydges Fortitude Valley property in the popular lifestyle, nightlife and secondary business district of the same name.

Also located nearby the Brisbane Showgrounds on King Street – the home of larger visiting trade fairs, exhibitions and of course the Royal Queensland Show – the 208-room hotel takes on a rural theme but with contemporary and city-appropriate touches like free in-room WiFI.

Dining options will include the hotel’s Six Acres Restaurant, offering guests a farm-to-the-table experience paired with a country welcome, joined by The Paddock Bar for drinks and both a gym and heated outdoor pool to burn off the calories later during your stay.

“We envisage the hotel becoming regional Queensland’s home in the city, bringing a new dimension in world-class service with a personal touch to an area known for its cultural heritage and agricultural theme,” said Rydges Fortitude Valley General Manager Matthew Hurley.

“The hotel’s positioning within the Showgrounds precinct and opposite the Royal International Convention Centre (RICC) lends unique appeal to guests wishing to stay and soak up the atmosphere at the many events and festivals held in the district throughout the year,” he added.

Within walking distance of Fortitude Valley train station, the Brisbane CBD is only one stop away or roughly a five-minute taxi ride – making the property a viable alternative to often higher-priced inner city hotels, and with three on-site meeting rooms to boot.

The Rydges Fortitude Valley hotel starts welcoming guests from February 9 2016, complementing the existing Rydges South Bank hotel: located directly next to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, within the city’s cultural district and a short walk over the bridge from the CBD centre.

Guests can also make use of either Rydges' Priority Guest Rewards loyalty program or the broader Discovery scheme of GHA, of which the Rydges chain is a member.
