G'day all and a happy new year full of travels!

Has anyone travelled recently on Air France and can report on the current status of the QF partnership re extra baggage allowance?

I'm looking into redeeming QF points for a Singapore-EU leg on Air France as a QF Silver and am trying to establish whether I get one extra piece of checked luggage for free or not.

I've called Air France in Singapore and they said no extra allowance - I'm trying to call Qantas, but will probably have better luck getting a hold of someone there after hours.

I assumed the lack of knowledge and confusion would dissipate as the AF-QF partnership supposedly enters its 4th year, but one never knows.

Cheers.

Unfortunately the Qantas call was a joke.

Firstly, the agent tried to push me to contact Air France, then they read an extract from the Qantas website saying online check-in and purchasing additional luggage in advance are not available with Air France - not the point of my question really.

I then mentioned I was on the very webpage under 'Tier Recognition' and the section ' Extra Checked Baggage Allowance' with the green tick. I was then asked which part of the world Air France is from - short of saying France - I said Europe.

The call disconnected and all I could do was give them a very poor survey review.

I'm on the phone now to Flying Blue to see if I get better luck.

The saga continues...

Vitorsyd, AF does not have a 'partnership' with QF except to say that you can book AF flights through QF using FF points. This will not recognise your Silver FF, but, if you fly business which is not too many more FF points you get increased checked luggage allowance and access to lounges etc (this is a mixed experience...).

Thanks @Clancy. I wish Qantas would update their website accordingly, because Air France insists their agreement is purely for earning and burning points. In any case, I considered flying business, but with 2 passengers in tow the points would add up quickly. However, the fees and taxes for Business vs. Economy on AF are much more reasonable than say EK... Bloody surcharges haha
