Status Credits - When you take off or when you land?

I am approaching my Qantas Status anniversary and am short a few status credits depending on the answer the following:

I have an overseas flight departing the last day of my current period (30th) and landing on the 30th in the US but the 1st in Australia. When do you get the Status Credits and what period do they apply too?

Does anyone have any experience with this?

It’s an interesting question with a few variables. It might be worth contacting the call centre.

Status credits always apply to the membership year of the local departure date foe each flight. Status credits can take up to a week to appear in your account, depending on the airline flown but for Qantas they're almost always in your account within 24 hours and sometimes even before you land.

It is the date of the departure of the flight that matters - so in your case, it will be on the final day of your old membership year.

In my experience the date for credits is the departure date. I have actually had points credited to my account whilst in-flight, so I am pretty sure you will be fine. However, if you also need the points from your return flight, you are in trouble as they will not be credited until after your anniversary date. In that case, it may be some sweet talking to the QFF Service Center.
