Hey Team, I'm heading to BOS at the end of the month & was contemplating transiting through DFW (due to meeting/flight timings).
The last time I transited through DFW (a few years ago, pre-COVID) it was an absolute cluster - and i'm envisaging things haven't changed much since then.
I'd be keen to get some of the collectives feedback on making my transit at DFW (of ~4Hrs) as palatable as possible. Especially any boss level hints at fast tracking through TSA queues.
FWIW i'm QF-Plat so i'm aware i'll have access to the AA Admirals Club or Flagship Lounge - i'm curious to hear any thoughts on which of these is preferable.
DFW is probably one of the better entry ports to the USA (which isn't saying much) - certainly preferable to LAX or MIA. TSA queues currently are an absolute mess everywhere - hopefully they will be better by the time you travel. Assuming you are not a US citizen, the only way you could access TSA Precheck would be to obtain Global Entry. AA used to have Flagship check-in at terminal D, which offered expedited security for OW Emeralds, but this was closed some time ago. Mobile Passport Control is available for Australian citizens and will help you get through immigration. The Flagship Lounge is something of a zoo, but is definitely preferable to the somewhat pedestrian Admiral's Club. Food is decent in the Flagship space, as is the champagne and self-pour spirits. Good luck!
Download the MPC app and go through that proces. You get a dedicated lane and it's all very easy and quick. Definitely the Flagship Lounge in Terminal D over any of the other lounges that they have in DFW.
1. On arrival, use the CBP Mobile Passport Control app to avoid the long waits at immigration. 2. When you exit the immigration hall, and take the escalators up to departures, you'll find yourself at the main TSA screening point. If it's busy (and it can be depending on the time of arrival), walk 10 mins further down the concourse to a different screening point. It's further away from the transferring passengers default option, so can be quieter. 3. The AA Flagship lounge is much better than the Admirals Club. Use the one in Terminal D (international) before jumping on the SkyTrain to your departure terminal.
My suggestion to save time in transit, Use the MPTC app to skip the queue, note that the staff on the ground aren’t super familiar with the app so you will need to look for the signage for the far shorter line (it’s located next to the global entry kiosks in the main immigration area)
Assuming you are leaving from the with the flagship lounge it’s far superior to the admirals club. It’s the same entry location they just send you upstairs to flagship which does fill up. Note that I don’t think you get access to the al la carte dining unless you are flying longhaul first or are elite tier with AA.
