Siakap or not, I just went for my third go of said "barramundi" (I'm in the SIN QF lounge right now, and thought for the sake of this post I'd have another crack), and I feel the same way. My tastebuds may have been unsetted by those delightful ham & goo pictures, but I think three strikes and out is fair enough...

Hmm. Perhaps it's just taste.

As for barramundi being overrated, I'd most definitely agrre when concerning the farmed product that hits most menus. A dry season (or just strictly seagoing), wild-caught specimen has the potential to exceed the hype...

I've found that most places serve better meals made from "ordinary" white fish, but I stand by my liking of the SIN lounge "barra". That said, the buffet should have at least one hot meat dish.

My dear Watson, I've no intention of detracting from your liking of the cous cous' companion, nor do I wish to appear a food snob. I'm perhaps just slightly jilted after gorging on black pepper crab and the like earlier today (and on previous occasions).

Ahhh, that's alright my dear seatmate! Anything would pale before black pepper crab!

I'm with watson374 - barra is the most over-rated fish going around.

I've since been able to coerce the lounge staff into admitting that the "barra" served at the SIN lounge is Malaysian siakap.

I was right - and that's why it was so nice.

Such a dreadfull time to land into Syndey 4:59am!!!! Even on my LAX - SYD fligtts when they arrive at 6:00am or there abouts. Much prefer a 7:30 am arrival

That's my gripe with the BA15 service.  I wish it departed SIN just a couple of hours later so it wouldn't arrive into SYD at such an ungodly hour.  The only positive is that you get to breeze through immigration and customs as there's no one else at the airport.

I have been on this flig before and have been third plane to land or thereabouts.  We were first in today, not a sinner in the airport and was in to the domestic business lounge by 0545.  The airport is quite empty and eerie.  At least that is one of the benefits of landing at an ungodly hour. But I see your point.

The earliest wheels-down I've experienced was 0435! Was literally the first person at the immigration counters by 0450. The agents couldn't look more bored LOL

Ewww. I much prefer arriving at 0845-ish on QF6 (it's usually slightly early), though admittedly the customs exit queue is much stiffer at that hour.

Especially when there's a battalion of schoolkids on tour.
