SYDNEY HOTELS. Hi all, Its my 10th wedding anniversary and I want to treat the Mrs and I have a surprise trip to SYD. I need some hotel advice, which are some really good hotels in Sydney? I have been looking at Four Seasons, Shangri-La, Langham (Closed), InterContinental...
If your going for views and wow factor definately shangri la or park hyatt.
if your going for a killer executive lounge to enjoy a pre dinner drink and canapé you can't beat the intercontinental or sheraton on the park.
in my opinion four seasons rooms are far too small unless you go for a suite, IMHO shangri la is always my go to hotel in sydney if im trying to impress someone.
My pick is usually the Langham - However they are closed for refurbishment at the moment. Shangri-La would be an acceptable choice. As Rach24 said above it has the WOW factor.
I would go for the Park Hyatt for views but as Rach24 says the Four Seasons has a great lounge. My experience with booth properties Harrowflyer is make them aware at the time of booking and at check in that it is an anniversary and booth will go out of there way to give a complementary room upgrade and or gift basket.Enjoy.
IMHO Park Hyatt and Shangri-La are the ones to side with here. The Four Seasons is pretty nice, but when looking at the uber luxury end of the accommodation market, I kinda felt like it was playing the 'Johnny Drama to the others Vincent Chase' (one for the Entourage fans out there).
I know Visa Platinum have some deals for the Shangri-La. Google 'Visa Luxury Hotel Collection' and you should see a page offering you things like free breaky etc.

Do check the room rates at the Sir Stamford at Circular Quay – they have a very nice chocolate high tea too.

I find the rooms at the Shangri-La very old and overall it just feels dated. You can always have a drink at Altitude Bar without staying there.
Same with Sheraton on the Park. And the InterContinental is quite average and feels more business-y to me than a luxurious treat.
The Park Hyatt is a simply gorgeous property and one hard to beat.
Happy anniversary! :)

I love the QT, although it's not by the water. A great place to stay with someone special or for a special occassion.

Park Hyatt would be my top pick. Location , rooms , views & service all the best you will find in Sydney.
I agree with eminere about the InterContinental being average definitely would take it off your list..
