I think it'll all come down to who they're targeting, (people who fly often enough to use these perks, but not so often they get status vs. status holders who get these perks anyway,) and the perks themselves.IMHO, for the perks to be appealing there needs to be one that wows people first off...

Yeah, it is a hotelier's response to OTA's upping their commission to 17% or 25%. Hotels can be commissioned on the room rate but not the 'destination fee'. It pretty annoying for customers and I reckon one day we'll see people flogging $1 rooms online with a $400 'destination fee'.

I wonder what percentage of members are polies and top public servants. Neither of which pay anything for their airfares as it’s a work expense.

Wonder if we'll see more loyalty programs or bank cards ad these sort of non-points based perks, following the RBA's new rules coming into force. I know Macquarie Bank's Hilton Hhonors card gives you gold status. Wonder if we'll see groups like NAB Cards starting to offer airline/hotel status for...

Good point, that American Express could do it cause they were already invested in the airport. I've noticed HSBC are involved with a lot of airports? Macquarie Bank gives you free Hilton Gold status as long as you have their Hilton card.I think you're right that the big two airlines probably woul...

Does anyone think there could be a chance of other loyalty groups, (a hotel chain's platinum members, Westpac/ANZ/NAB Black Card holders etc.) offering to fill the void left by American Express? With the new RBA rules taking the spotlight of points earn via credit cards, I was kind of optimistica...

So I am looking at getting the new NAB Qantas Signature card and a contact at NAB let loose that they may discontinue their Platinum range in favor of new Visa Signature products, (which as expected, do not come with an American Express card). What do the other superheroes in the AusBT universe th...
