Qantas seems to be on a roll at the moment - new ad is their most watched video on youtube ever (already), new business suite looks great, and even their economy offering is being improved (food/entertainment). So is there anything left for Qantas to do? I'd selfishly suggest a new international lounge in BNE and better phone/email customer service

Their phone/email customer service is fine. The last time I sent a complaint in via the online portal, they rang me up, apologised for the terrible things that happenedd to me and sent me Qantas Club vouchers and credited points as a service recovery gesture.

They do need to fix that dire BNE lounge. It's so sad that the last time I flew through BNE, because QF51 was delayed by several hours, I made the decision to visit the Domestic QP for a couple hours before going over to the international side of things.

Confirm some of the 787 order, Plan for sky bed 2 replacement on A380, Bring back miles based frequent flyer program (so much simplier), continue lounge upgrades and invest in new lounges (DFW maybe), find a SE Asian partner for JV, look at new regional airport destinations for QF link, take a look a gold/platinum/silver benefits which have been neglected I'm favour of P1 (also important), DON'T ALLOW yourself to be complacent ever again (QF has been following VA over recent years, rather than being the industry leader they used to be). Oh and continue to improve plane utilisation.

But yes, they are on the right flightpath... but there is still much work to be done.

Good list Hutch, but I would add they need to aggressively re-enter the Perth international market and knock Emirates, Singapore, South African, Air NZ and Qatar for a big hefty six.

I think PER can work - particulary services to JNB (3 x wkly perhaps) and SIN. But they need the right planes. I don't necessarily think SIN needs to be served with widebodies from PER. Narrowbodies can be great planes if fitted out well (think AA A321T)... on the flipside, QF would currently be benefitting by having a simplified fleet.

Personally, I don't see ADL having any potential for QFi.

Ah yes, the Perth Question.

I think the best plane for that route is the A330-200 based on size.

I personally would prefer to see small plane and higher frequency. But yes, the Perth question!

I'd also argue that they should be returning international services to both PER and ADL. Their all but desertion of those two cities in unforgivable. The recent news about new flightsa to Haneda (Tokyo) is very welcome. Perhaps continuing their seasonal service to Vancouver throughout the whole year could be an option for them too. They must get a red tail on some of these 787's and match the product of their competition too.
