Cubana de Aviacion, J or Y class on the A320 from Cancun. Anyone experienced either?

Hi Jonom

I did this flight in December 2012. Bus class from Cancun to Havana and Y from Havana to Cancun. Honestly for an hour flight there was almost no difference ( aside from the extra leg room) in the service and depending on the cost probably not worth the extra spend though on our return trip J was already booked out so we flew Y.

We tried to fly business both ways in the hope that if the flights were cancelled or issues came up we would hopefully have better standing to get on the next flight or alternatives as there isnt a regualr frequency of commercial flights daily  in and out of Havana so depending on connections and travel plans bus class could give you a little extra insurance.  Our inbound flight it was delayed by an hour and half.   Outbound was on time.

Service was friendly, we were given a drink and some biscuits  with a choice of tea and coffee on both trips.

Happy to discuss further if you would like any other info.

Mike

Im assuming as i havent seen elsewhere the seat pitch would be around 29" for Y and 36" for J ?

As a tall guy, space is my biggest prioty.

Thanks for the info Mike.

I think so. The aircraft are chartered from a private fleet or at least were when we flew.

Enjoy Cuba. The tobacco plantations in the Mogotez range and coffee and rum at Santiago de Cuba are fantastic. Lobster goes for a very reasonable price of $12 per crustacean.
