I am due to fly home from the US on November 26th (thanksgiving day). Just curious, will the catering staff in the LAX Qantas lounge be pulling out all the bells and whistles for this special day?

I doubt it.

We'll be travelling on Christmas day and enquired if the menu in the MEL First lounge will change. We were told by the First Lounge staff that the menu will remain unchanged (at least as far as Christmas 2014 was concerned).

It would be nice if the menus across the network would reflect specific holidays. 

maybe just me but i just feel bad for those who have to work on the day, and would just be thankful that it is open.

Two words: Penalty Rates

Penalty rates in the U.S. aren't very good. Especially as their minimum wage is appalling.
