Does anyone have any experience using the AMEX Platinum travel booking service. Does it add value of Business class bookings when compared to fares direct from the airline web sites? thnaks

I've used it on two occasions to book international business class travel with VA, one itinerary to JFK and the oherr to LHR for flights operated by EY.. Worked well for me.

As a Platinum charge card holder I was able to apply the $200 travel credit towards the cost of one of the itineraries.

I've used them a couple of times and found them REALLY good. They worked really hard in January to get me from Brisbane-Sydney-Portland-Vegas-home when most flights were solid across all classes! Also used the $200 credit.

I really only use them for complex multi-hope intl trips where they can see further into the flight inventory system and get me decent connections across carriers.

Both times the fares they locked in were better than on QF website.

What's the $200 credit? I enjoy the research of a holiday so am yet to use them... But all ears on the $200 voucher!

This refers to the $200 credit AMEX provides to customers of their AMEX Platinum charge card.

It was introduced a few years ago when AMEX raised the annual card fee from AUD 900 to AUD 1200.

From memory either Chris or David has posted a detailed review of the card on this site. The card often cops praise or abuse from ABT readers depending on how they value the benefits...

So in the context of this thread - both cssaus and myself were able to offload the tedious research/fare comparison workload to AMEX Platinum travel desk and still utilise the $200 credit - which in my opinion was a big win!

I appreciate my AMEX Platinum charge card, appreciate their travel service desk, and don't mind the $200 credit...

Hope this helps!
