Hi everyone,

flying CX in November PEK-HKG-FCO and then connecting onto a flight to NCE on Alitalia after arrival in FCO. Can my baggage by checked all the way through to NCE from PEK or will I have to recheck in FCO?

Also on the way back flying CPH- FCO on Lufthansa via FRA connecting onto a CX flight to HKG and then onwards to PEK. Can I check all the way through to PEK when checking in for LH flight in CPH?

Thanks

It depends. Did you purchase a through ticket? Or is the PEK/HKG/FCO and the FCO/NCE separate ticket?

If it's a through ticket then I would say your bags will be checked through since CX and and AZ have interline agreements. However if it is a separate ticket and since CX and AZ are not int the same alliance, you will probably have to collect your bags at FCO and re-check for the NCE flight.

Same goes for the flight back. If CPH/FRA/FCO/HKG/PEK is a through ticket, given the LH and CX interline agreement you should be able to check through.

However I suspect given your interesting routing that these are all separate tickets and you will have to collect bags at FCO and re-check for your onward legs.

wow that seems crazy! I'm doing a very similar routing, also CX - CX - Alitalia. Only difference is that the flight is a code share with airberlin, and so my flight has an AB flight number.

All 3 flights were booked separately too!

Will I be able to check it through despite being all separately purchased tickets, since it is all oneworld?

I booked 2 separate tickets with Cathay and Air Berlin before. I managed to get my luggage check through all the way to Berlin. You may need to collect Air Berlin boarding pass in Hong Kong. Air Berlin check-in may not be available when you check-in at the airport.

Interline of luggage for Oneworld operated flights is not a problem. It is when it's a flight operated by a non-alliance member that might be problematic.
