I will soon need to go from MEL to CNS and am thinking of trying out the swish new Qantas A330 business class suites. Being somewhat of a rookie to biz class, I wanted to ask if anyone in the AusBT universe knows if this product is available on the MEL to CNS route and if you score amenities kits in business class.

I haven't seen it on any flights to CNS. Qantas used to do CNS-SYD flights on the 767 but since they retired their 767s, all their flights are on 737s.

Best bet would be to take a MEL-SYD-CNS flight and get the A330 on the MEL-SYD leg. No amenity kit, but you can try the suite at least.

as per Qantas.com, MEL-CNS non stop is a scheduled 737. So the answer is no. (but there are other indirect routes/flights which include an A330 sector/flight). Up to you if you want to do the searching :)
